Möbius strips can show up in some unexpected places—including the lyrics of a pop song.
Canadian singer and songwriter Nelly Furtado showcases this amazing, one-sided, one-edged object in her song "Hey, Man!" The song leads off her debut album Whoa, Nelly!, which was released in 2000.
The surprise comes in the following portion of the chorus, repeated several times throughout the song:
We are part of a circle
It's like a Möbius strip
And it goes 'round and 'round
Until it loses a link.
The song is credited to Nelly Furtado, Brian West, Kevin Charles Volans, and Gerald Eaton, but it's not clear who contributed the Möbius strip simile to the lyrics. West and Eaton, who once performed as part of a Toronto-based group known as The Philosopher Kings, produced the album.
and I love her singing :)
